CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF REHABILITATION

CAMPAIGN DESIGN

The Brief

The California Department of Rehabilitation created the EmployABILITY Business Grant to support small businesses across California while expanding meaningful employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities. The goal was to promote the grant in a way that felt engaging and inclusive, while working within DOR’s existing brand and meeting strict accessibility standards. The campaign needed to reach businesses through a variety of touchpoints, including social media, email, print materials, event collateral, and a large-scale event presentation.

Solution

I designed a cohesive campaign system that felt polished, friendly, and accessible. Using DOR’s approved fonts and brand standards, I introduced soft, curved shapes, layered layouts, hand drawn line art, and inclusive photography to create a welcoming energy and add visual interest without sacrificing clarity or accessibility.

The Impact

The EmployABILITY Business Grant awarded $5.2 million to 32 California small businesses, helping them grow while committing to long-term employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities.
